WASHER HOSES
Preventative Maintenance for Your Washer Hose
How often do you think about, or check, the washer supply hoses that deliver hot and cold water to your washing machine? If you’re like most people, you probably never thought about a washer hose. Unfortunately, never thinking about them until they fail can cause extensive, and costly, flooding damage to your home. Follow these preventative maintenance tips on a regular basis to avoid a huge mess:
Inspect Each Washer Hose. Checking your washer hoses is a simple process. Look for leaks or cracks and inspect each washer supply hose to see if they have any visible bulges. Also make sure your machine has at least four inches of clearance from the wall to prevent the hoses from kinking.
Be sure you know where your washer shutoff valves are, too. If one of your washer hoses should burst, you can minimize the mess and damage by quickly shutting the water off. It’s also a good idea to never leave home while your washing machine is running.
Water Hose Replacement. Replacing washer hoses is easy and should be done immediately if you find any kind of leak, bulge or crack. It’s also a good idea to replace the washer hoses with reinforced stainless steel hoses if they are three years old or more, when you move, or if you replace your washing machine.
